A primary focus of our dental practice is preventative care, which we believe is key to optimal oral health. Through comprehensive dental exams, advanced imaging, high-tech cancer screening, and more, Greenwich dentist George Tsangaroulis, DDS and our team can thoroughly assess oral wellness for you and your entire family, ensuring that no potential issues go unnoticed and untreated. We also provide routine cleanings, flossing, sealants, and fluoride to help ward off infection and disease, and we take the time to teach proper oral hygiene habits—particularly to younger patients—to establish a strong foundation for lasting dental health.
We pride ourselves on developing long-lasting relationships with each and every patient. When you are seated for your appointment, we will reserve ample time for you, and you’ll always have our full, undivided attention. This allows us to provide a higher level of personalized care. We take a holistic, conservative approach by utilizing sound techniques and principles, as well as recommending effective dental products or therapies that are safe, research-based, and scientifically proven.

What the eye doesn’t see and the mind doesn’t know, doesn’t exist. – D.H. Lawrence
There’s no question that a strong connection between poor oral health and a number of serious medical issues throughout the body exists. In fact, numerous scientific studies show that gum disease has a direct correlation to heart disease, diabetes, and adverse pregnancy outcomes. Additional conditions that have been linked to suboptimal oral wellness include sleep apnea, high blood pressure, arthritis, depression, stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, kidney failure, cancer, and more.
Not only is our practice focused on the beauty and health of your smile, we are also concerned about your overall wellness. Taking the entire body into consideration, we offer a wide range of exceptional services that always involve a thorough review of medical history and extensive head and neck exam to determine if certain conditions in the mouth are correlated with underlying medical and health concerns—or vice versa.
By focusing on the mouth-body connection, Dr. Tsangaroulis and our team provide a service that goes beyond oral care, helping to improve your overall well-being.
As a family man himself, Dr. Tsangaroulis is passionate about offering dental services to both you and your loved ones. From creating an optimal foundation for dental wellness during childhood to maintaining beautiful, healthy teeth and gums throughout all of life’s stages, our team is dedicated to ensuring your family receives the oral care it needs and deserves in a safe, comfortable, trusted environment. We also place a strong emphasis on education, helping patients of all ages develop a complete understanding of good dental habits that can result in bright, healthy smiles that last a lifetime.
Our practice provides pediatric dentistry for young children and teens in a comfortable, safe, and fun environment. Your child’s dental health is of utmost importance to our whole team. Because young children are often unable to brush and floss effectively, we offer a range of dental services to provide them with a foundation of good oral health. Dental sealants, a clear or tooth-colored coating bonded to the chewing surfaces of the teeth, offer excellent protection against cavities for your child’s permanent teeth. We also provide cleanings and fluoride treatments to keep teeth clean and healthy.
Dr. Tsangaroulis is a father of four, so he is extremely patient, understands children’s behaviors, and has a wonderful bedside manner. He absolutely loves kids and treats them as if they were his own. Despite many children being fearful and apprehensive, Dr. Tsangaroulis always manages to capture their trust, creating a very positive experience and special bond on their first visit, which sets the stage for a wonderful lifetime relationship. We would love to answer any questions you may have about pediatric dentistry and discuss how regular dental care can help start your child on a lifetime of excellent oral health.
Get to Know Dino
Dino is kind enough to show our younger patients how to brush their teeth properly. But beware if he gets excited: when he needs to rinse, he might “spray” water on you!
In addition to Dino, we have the entire Finding Nemo family in the office to greet patients with a wave of the fin and help make visits even more enjoyable for young ones. Learn more about our fish here.
Special Rewards for Pediatric Patients
All of our pediatric patients are special to us, and we love to reward them at the completion of their dental treatment. Children can choose from either of two rewards: a treat from the treasure chest or painting nails.
A comprehensive oral exam enables our team to thoroughly assess the health and condition of your teeth and gums, identifying any possible concerns to allow for prompt treatment, if necessary. In addition to a visual evaluation by Dr. Tsangaroulis and our team, an oral examination may include a dental cleaning, digital x-rays, CariVu™ cavity detection, intraoral imaging, and/or oral cancer screening to ensure nothing goes undetected. To learn more about these specific services, please visit the section of our website that details our advanced dental technology.
Routine dental cleanings are imperative to maintaining oral wellness. While daily brushing and flossing helps to keep the teeth and gums clean, not all plaque, tartar, and bacteria can be removed through at-home hygiene care. Professional cleanings from our team get rid of the plaque, tartar, and bacteria left behind, significantly reducing the potential for decay and various other issues. Dr. Tsangaroulis recommends most patients receive two dental cleanings per year, though the exact number will depend on your unique oral needs and history.
Dental fillings are used to restore integrity and function to teeth harmed by cavities and/or cracks. Dr. Tsangaroulis uses BPA-free composite resin materials for fillings, which are very durable and pose no health risks to patients. In the event previously placed silver amalgam fillings (which contain mercury) need to be replaced, he employs a special protocol for safe removal and evacuation of mercury vapor that is released to prevent unnecessary absorption.
Oral Cancer Screening
Oral cancer is a life-threatening condition that doesn’t typically display symptoms in its earliest stages, making it vitally important to receive regular screenings to identify any tissue abnormalities as soon as possible. At our practice, Dr. Tsangaroulis utilizes state-of-the-art VELscope® technology for oral cancer screening, which is a non-invasive system that emits a safe blue light into the mouth. While healthy tissues reflect this light (causing them to glow), any abnormal tissue will absorb the light and appear dark. This allows Dr. Tsangaroulis to identify potential issues before they are visible to the naked eye, leading to a less invasive approach that can be highly effective in treating oral cancer.
Periodontal (gum) disease is caused by the accumulation of plaque and bacteria around the teeth and underneath the gumline. If left untreated and allowed to worsen, gum disease progresses from tissue sensitivities and inflammation to the creation of deep pockets that cause the gums to actually separate from the teeth. This stage of periodontal disease can eventually lead to tooth loss, as well as an increased risk for heart disease, stroke, and various other medical issues.
Dr. Tsangaroulis and our team offer several treatment options for gum disease, including non-invasive therapy and dental lasers. We also use Oral DNA Labs for DNA genetic testing for those that may be predisposed to gum disease, as well as to identify and target an individual’s specific bacteria causing gum disease in order to develop the most effective treatment plan possible.
